Agree with everyone here saying the boat in the tunnel scene was the most frightening part of the movie. Watching it as an adult, I am astounded by Gene Wilder. What an absolute genius.

But 'Willie Wonka' remains immensely creepy to me. Like Hansel and Gretel meets Gattaca, but add in a handful of eerie songs.
