Character complexity is something I highly value, though I'm not opposed to a well-done straightforward sitcom. But I don't think 'Ted Lasso' is pulling off either... When a show gets to a third season, it's not too great an ask to give us a little more backstory on side characters (we've had whole episodes about Trent Crimm now). I think we should probably know what Michelle does for a living, or see some strain in taking care of Henry solo. Nothing major, just some human beats thrown in... Instead, Michelle's life has been presented as a happy blank slate no one wants to populate with any real life.
