Hi Brandon. Thank you for reading. I caught the intended comedy of the Russian gangsters, but did not find their scenes to be actually funny. I think it was more the dueling perspectives -- idiot, incompetent mobsters vs. potential real harm against the main character we've come to care about -- that did not work at all. Baker is not Tarantino. The lines were not as funny, and we all know Anora is not going to be suddenly shot through the head or dismembered, insert whatever other viscerally grotesque violence Tarantino is capable of, etc. So that whole episode just kinda bored me.

I do wonder if Baker knows that Disney has been subverting its own Cinderella narrative for a solid 20 years now? Because the conceit is not new, and I didn't see anything Baker was adding to the "don't count on a man for a happy ending" discussion...
