Thanks, David! I had missed that little tidbit in the films. But as I explained, Aragorn's character arc is entwined entirely with escaping his (very great) grandfather's fall to Sauron's ring. As the heir to Isildur -- which gets mentioned many, many times -- Aragorn is preoccupied with not repeating the weakness of his *paternal* lineage.
