The lack of interest in who watches the kids is indeed galling. I had forgotten they were letting a total stranger do the job for a while, but yes — that happened, too.

You make such an interesting point about the differences between Joel’s mom and Rose. There’s definitely class tension between the two, but it’s also fascinating from a mother perspective.
